New Law Allows Employers To Pay For Individual Health Insurance CoverageJanuary 11, 2017

On December 13, 2016, President Obama signed into law the “21st Century Cures Act” (the “Cures Act”). Among other health related items, the Cures Act includes a provision that will allow certain small employers (i.e., based on the size of their workforce) to offer tax-free payments or reimbursements to help their employees and family members pay for medical care expenses (including health insurance premiums) with respect to health coverage obtained in the individual health insurance market.
