 News Consumer Fraud Judgement Against Auto Dealer
Bergen County Superior Court Judge Susan Steele wrote that Rainone's client "presented himself credibly throughout the [trial] proceeding..." and described the auto dealership's witnesses' testimony as "troubling," and gave "little weight" to their testimony. Under cross-examination by Rainone, Judge Steele described the dealer's owner, Richard Catena, as "evasive in his answers..." and "less than credible." Judge Steele rescinded contract, ordered a refund of the purchase price, and awarded treble damages and attorney' fees against the dealership pursuant to New Jersey's Consumer Fraud Act.
