News Gormally Elected to Second Term as Mayor of Mountain Lakes
In his comments to the Council and members of the public, Mr. Gormally recounted the significant events of his first term as Mayor and recognized the particular contributions of the Police and volunteer Fire Department during 2011. "By managing our resouces, looking for shared service opportunities, and strictly controlling our expeditures, we were able to provide a measure of local property tax relief to the residents and deliver a near zero tax increase for the year. In the seven years I have been on the Council, this is the first time we have achieved this fiscal milestone," he noted. "The bravery and dedication exibited by our police department during the violent criminal event in November, was instrumental in preventing further injury to the residents of the Borough," he said, referring to a shooting which occurred in the Borough. Mountain Lakes celebrated its 100 year anniversary throughout 2011 and Mayor Gormally also thanked the volunteers who were instrumental in making this year a success. Mr. Gormally humorously added, "Many have said that it is fortunate that a Mayor like me comes along only once every 100 years, so I am honored to serve another term as your Mayor."
