Assembly Bill 4163, signed into law on April 23, 2025, requires health insurers to cover biomarker testing for the purposes of diagnosis, treatment, appropriate management, or ongoing monitoring of an individual’s disease or condition. Biomarker testing analyzes an individual’s biological indicators to provide insights into their health status or risk of certain diseases. The legislation aims to eliminate uncertainty around insurance coverage and to reduce high out-of-pocket costs for such testing.
