Peter L. Agostini, Counsel
Peter Agostini helps clients solve complex business disputes involving significant claims across a wide range of industries, with a particular focus on complex investigations, tort, insurance, construction, supply chain and transportation litigations. He regularly represents clients in multimillion-dollar contract disputes and extra-contractual commercial tort claims before judges in the New Jersey Superior Court and the U.S. District Court of New Jersey. A significant part of his corporate and commercial practice includes advising clients on strategies and issues that arise from disputes.
Peter is Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Trial Attorney, a distinction achieved by less than 2% of lawyers in the State. He represents businesses and individuals before state and federal courts and has taken in excess of fifty trials to verdict on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. Peter has recovered millions of dollars representing individuals who have been injured by the negligence of others, and he also has extensive experience litigating insurance coverage disputes. Although he relishes the action of the courtroom, Peter will mediate and arbitrate cases in circumstances when a trial is not in the best interests of the client.
Peter brings 30 years of experience in the gas and electric industry and tort liability to our litigation practice. His representation of a major utility and of individuals as plaintiff and defendant in multi-million dollar catastrophic injury, wrongful death, construction accident, gas explosion, fire, burn, electrocution, carbon monoxide poisoning, trucking accident, product liability and toxic tort cases has cemented his reputation among the judiciary and his peers as a persuasive and tenacious trial attorney.
Peter understands the value of preventative counseling as a litigation avoidance strategy, and he has made presentations to clients on the importance of proper and well-documented pre-trial investigations. He is committed and dedicated to his clients, having presented on the topics of attorney-client privilege, attorney work product, evidence retention, written discovery, deposition techniques and witness preparation and testimony. He also has extensive experience coordinating and directing complex fact investigations designed to protect the client, minimize liability exposure or maximize damages.
Peter “pays it forward” by mentoring young lawyers through the Vanderbilt Inn of Court program. He also volunteers his services to the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice Pro Bono Legal Services program and is a member of the Board of the Morris County Challenger Little League, which provides adaptive sports programs for children with challenges.
